Uglier

Not much to say about three hits. Even less to say about nine runs allowed. The next ten games are in San Francisco. That ought to improve things. Just when I thought Barry Zito would put up some ML-average numbers again he dropped off a cliff. Let's hope Jonathan Sanchez gets back in the fold soon.

Giants finish July 15-11 for a .577 win percentage. Giants didn't get a catcher and nothing seems to be in the works. After today players have to clear waivers before they can be traded. Maybe they are going to stick with the Whiteside/Stewart combo.

What I said in response to the previous post.

The Giants not only have 10 games at home, but it is 10 games in a row starting tomorrow with a beat up bullpen that has thrown 12.1 innings over the weekend in hot, humid weather. We have to face the dbacks, phils and pirates. Sounds great, huh? At least we have Matt going in the opener, and the Timmeh following. Vogelsong is slated after that, then TBAs.

Well, that was a fun weekend.

@Zo, last series of heckles: If no one wants Barry Zito, why, on God's decreasingly green Earth, would the defending World Champions be wasting a roster spot on the guy??? Now that all of the has-beens have traded ML players for prospects, they need to fill roster spots with people at least resembling major leaguers. I expect that some mediocre team will happily take a free (i.e. the Giants pay his salary) Zito for the rest of the season. Wouldn't he look especially nice in a Padre uniform, what with his 'K's for the Military' thing, or whatever it's called. I hope to see that in the next few days.

I'm not sure the organization is willing to take that big a hit...eating $50+ million just to free up a roster spot. After all we only have a month until it expands to 40, then his impact is completely absorbed. That means a couple more totally vunerable starts (like yesterday) that he may have to fill...after that someone thrilling (like Surkamp?)will get a chance. High price for a couple open starts. He is pretty, speaks well, eats a few innings...I think he stays FOREVER.

I will point out, mostly because I'm a dick, that (as I mentioned at the time) one impact of losing Wheeler is moving Zito move up in the depth chart. The end of next year and all of 2013 will be when we may really wish we had ANYONE but Zito...right now, assuming JSanchez returns and Vogie continues (both of which I doubt)we are OK.

i dont think there is any way Zito will be released considering that paycheck he pulls in. try to have him as a middle reliever, the most expensive in the mlb.somehow we have got to get a bench player that could possible hit for average in certain situation. waiver wire lets go!

There's a division to win still. 2012 and 2013 are too far away for me. Let's see if the team can get back on the beam and whip the Snakes.

Posted during Monday game: "Line drive up the middle, off of Cabrera's glove, and both runners will score." That pretty much sums it up.
